The best way to find out about the club is to visit us and meet some members.

The club is open on Sundays during terms 4 and 1 from 8.30am until about 4pm.

Our club is run by volunteers, so if your query cannot answered by the frequently asked questions (FAQs) and you’ve had a good look through the website, then send us a message and we will get back to you, hopefully within a couple of days.

CURRENT CLUB USAGE RULES. COMPULSORY QR SIGN IN REQUIRED.

Robert Ugarte

Hi all,

The weather has been great and we understand a lot of you are keen to get your daily exercise fix on the water.

Given the current Coronavirus situation in NSW, we need to remind everyone that any use of the club must be done only in accordance with the current NSW public health orders.

The only reason you are to attend the club is for exercise.

If you attend the club, you MUST:

- check in using the QR code

- wear a mask while inside the club

You must NOT attend the club if:

- you are in a group of more than two

- your attendance would result in more than two people in the club at any one time.

- you reside more than 10km from the club

- you or anyone in your household are required to isolate

- your attendance would contravene any current health orders

We have a responsibility to our community to do the right thing.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at the club once the current restrictions are eased.

Until then, stay safe.

Many thanks,

VA12SC Committee

Welcome to the 21-22 Season and Welcome to the 2021-22 VA12SC Executive Committee

Robert Ugarte

Welcome to a new season at VA12SC and Welcome to all of our new Committee Members. What a great team we have this year. We are ready and determined to bring you another fantastic year of sailing at VA12SC.

2021-22 VA12SC Executive Committee

Commodore - Robert Ugarte

Vice Commodore - Ashley Minnett

Rear Commodore - Alex Badger

Honorable Secretary - Richard Amland

Honorable Treasurer - Tracey Driver

Club Captain - David Mc Kelvey

Special Committee Members - Ian Manovel and Jules Hall

Class representatives - Simon Nearn for Flying 11s and Sally Badger for Sabots.

The Sydney lockdown has been extended for another four weeks and the new committee’s first challenge will be to develop a safe and compliant operational plan that can begin as soon as possible so that those who want to sail between now and 28 Aug can do so in a compliant and safe manner. Our head coach, Adele, and I have discussed how to open the club and the possibility of starting the season early in September.

We appreciate the opportunity we have to be able to get the kids out of the house and on the water during these troubled times and what a blessing it will be if we are able to do so. However, our first priority is to keep our members safe. We are working hard to reopen the club in some manner as soon as we can and we appreciate your understanding.

Stay safe and well and enjoy the Olympics from Tokyo.

Olympic sailing - how to watch

Jules Hall

The olympic sailing regatta starts this Sunday at Enoshima Yacht Harbour - a venue built for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics where Australia won its first olympic gold medal in sailing after Bill Norham CBE, Pod O’Donell and Dick Sargeant sailed the 5.5 metre class ‘Barranjoey’ to victory.

Races take place every day from 13.00 - 19.00hrs. The medal races will be held 31 July to 4 August.

Channel 7 will have extensive coverage of the Olympics with 40 streaming channels on their 7Plus app. On your computer the best place to watch is 7plus.com/olympics.

The Australian Sailing website has further details on how to follow along on social media as well as send letters of support to the team throughout the games. #GoAusSailors

Movie night - postponed

Prizegiving & BBQ dinner - 5pm Sunday

Robert Ugarte

The VA12SC Presentation and Prizegiving evening will take place this Sunday 16th of May from 5 to 7 pm.

Certificates of Achievement will be presented to all members of the sailing school followed by a Trophy Presentation for the Racing Fleets.

We will then enjoy a BBQ dinner courtesy of the club so our parents will get a night off cooking to show our appreciation for all of their hard work and devotion over the season.

We encourage attendance from all of our sailing school kids so that they can see where their efforts can lead and so they aspire to one day be presented with a trophy just like the winners in our racing fleets.

There will be a guest appearance from an ex-member to present the awards so put it in your diary, come down and honour our kids and enjoy a Sunday evening dinner and drink on us!

Mooring available for hire

Jules Hall

The club has a number of commercial moorings in Watsons Bay. We currently have one mooring vacant and available for hire. It is a deep water mooring and can accomodate a larger vessel.
